Moving away from outsourced transcription
Has anyone moved from outsourced transcription to AI-assisted drafts?
Our outsourced transcription service is accurate, but the delay is becoming harder to defend. Routine letters can sit for days before the consultant even sees a draft.
The attraction of Microdoc is not just cost. It is having the draft available while the clinical context is still fresh.
I would not want AI drafts sent straight out. The secretary review step still matters for formatting, recipient details, and catching obvious inconsistencies.
Microdoc is useful if it gives me a workable draft quickly and still leaves the consultant approval step intact.
Cost and turnaround matter, but accuracy matters more. A delayed correct letter is still safer than a fast wrong one.
Any AI drafting process needs a disciplined review step. I would trial it first on routine follow-up letters, not complex new assessments.
